Frogs—whimsical, fantastical, playful, larger-than-life, artist-decorated frogs. Throughout summer 2005, from June through October, you can spot them on thoroughfares, near restaurants and businesses, and in retail districts in the Grosse Pointe area.

These fun and fanciful works of art hearken back to the marshlands, streams and ribbon farms that originally characterized the Pointes, and the lakeside location that’s still such an important part of the area’s identity.

Frogs•Fur•Friends is the result of a collaborative effort of business and community leaders who were seeking a unique way to raise needed monies for two local non profit organizations.

These individuals have donated their time, effort, and skills to bring this exciting community event to Grosse Pointe.

Frogs•Fur•Friends will feature oversized fiberglass frogs, festively adorned by artists and displayed along major thoroughfares and retail areas from mid June through September 2005.

At summer’s end, the frogs will gather for a week at the Country Club of Detroit before they are auctioned off at the Auction Gala charity event on October 8 to benefit The Children’s Home of Detroit and The Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society (GPAAS).
